Meet Stefanie

Informed Pregnancy is owned and operated by Stefanie Gallo (she/her), Certified Perinatal Doula (Rhode Island Licensing Board), CD(DONA) DONA International, certified breastfeeding support professional (over three years of personal breastfeeding experience), mother of two and avid surfer. Stefanie served as Secretary of Doulas of Rhode Island and also Community Doula to the Obstetric Advisory Board at Women & Infants Hospital. She brings a diverse background including a Bachelors degree in Psychology, a Masters degree in Accounting and decades of experience in child development, world travel, nutrition, mindfulness and trauma recovery. Stef was born and raised in Rhode Island where she launched Informed Pregnancy and Birth Collective.

Stef's Story

When preparing for my daughter’s birth, I encountered a wealth of information that I wished I had known before getting pregnant. I thought, "Why doesn't every pregnant woman know this stuff!?!" and ""Imagine how much we could improve pregnancy and birth for moms and babies if we knew and practiced all of this stuff!?!!". I also encountered a community of women who held birth up as a sacred passage. This blew my mind. I had only seen birth on TV as a scary, dramatic and excruciating event. This information and sense of community opened my eyes to the possibility of a birth experience better than I could have ever imagined. A balance of empowered, trusting, safe space and evidenced based information paved the way to usher my 10lb daughter into my arms in an unmedicated home birth. I would have thought a homebirth was crazy when I first got pregnant. I started my journey wanting an OB and the most sophisticated hospital birth available. Little did I know, this truly valid desire was only one of the many safe birthing options that lay ahead of me on the journey. A home birth may not be your dream, but whatever dream you DO have, I want to walk beside you on your journey and encourage the best experience possible, empowered by all of the most recent evidence-based research. Whether it's your first baby or your fifth. Whether you're planning a cesarean, a natural or medicated hospital birth, I want to help you uncover your true potential.
